FEEDING THE FUTURE
In 2022, as a response to the severe economic crisis that hit Sri Lanka, we launched our charity initiative ‘Feeding the Future’ in partnership with Hemas Outreach Foundation. Our goal is simple: we aim to meet the nutritional needs of preschool children and their families in Sri Lanka’s poorest districts and right now we’re supporting over 1,500 families.
OUR PROGRESS SO FAR
– Since 2022 –
We’ve raised £343,231
Supporting 6,563 children and their families
Across 49 pre-schools in 17 district
Distributing 10,002 ration packs
But the journey didn’t stop there. In November 2023, we opened our first Hoppers Pre-School in the remote village of Poojapitiya. By 2024, we had expanded to two more preschools, now providing early years education to 148 children who need it most.
HOW IT WORKS
You help Hoppers raise funds for Feeding the Future whenever you:
-donate £1 via your restaurant bill-
-order one of our monthly specials-
-book a table for a collaboration dinner-
-buy the Hoppers cookbook-
-or donate via our gifting page-
Every donation helps fund the construction of new schools and distribute protein packs.
HOW WE'RE STAYING ACCOUNTABLE
Rest assured that Ernst & Young Sri Lanka audits every penny that Feeding the Future spends.
We keep administrative costs close to zero by partnering with the Hemas Outreach Foundation, and purchase food at wholesale rates via Cargills, one of Sri Lanka’s largest retailers – which also handles the logistics of delivering food to villages.
HOW TO SUPPORT FEEDING THE FUTURE
We’ve set up a dedicated charity page where you can donate directly to help feed a family of 4 or supplement a child’s pre-school education with a school pack of essentials including books, pens, pencils, a school bag, water bottle & lunch box.
In whichever way you’ve contributed or helped spread the word – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We look forward to reaching many more milestones together in the years to come.
